Nikkei is only defined as a Japanese emigrant or a descendant, but in Peru, it means so much more. Out of the 200 years that Peru has been a republic, 125 of those we have had Japanese immigrants. Their contributions to our shared Peruvian identity are undeniable and there is no place where it can be felt stronger than in our cuisine.
Peruvian-Japanese Nikkei cuisine is just one of the many versions of Nikkei cuisine in the world but this beautiful amalgamation has brought forth a powerful experience that has become synonymous with the term Nikkei, popping up worldwide to undeniable acclaim.
