DIRECTOR’S STATEMENT
Bunka is a celebration of Peruvian food, culture, and influences.
This film is an invitation to discover a Peru that extends far beyond its iconic landmarks. It’s an exploration of identity, a reclaiming of our narrative and a call for the world to appreciate the beauty of our multiculturalism.

THE TEAM
Omar Young is an award-winning documentary filmmaker, passionate about real untold stories from diverse voices.
Exploring the intersections of food, identity, and culture.
As a director and producer, my independent short film "Takes Four Years to Grow Coffee" featured a small community of coffee farmers in Maricao, Puerto Rico and their struggle to pass on their family traditions in the aftermath of Hurricane Maria. This short film was featured at the 30th Florida Film Festival and the 30th Hot Springs Documentary Film Festival.
I specialize in foreign language global productions across North and South America as well as Asia. I have also directed episodes of Amazon Prime’s The College Tour in Spanish and overseas in East Africa.
As an editor and story producer I have worked on Netflix’s original documentary series "Street Food: USA" and Disney+ "Rennervations". Commercially my latest branded short documentary has won a Gold Telly Award and I consistently collaborate with companies like Microsoft to help them highlight the social impact of their technology on a global scale.
